Frequently asked

Be confident about choosing us. Here are the answers to all your questions.

Travel & Accommodations

Do I need a passport?

Yes. Our program involves international travel, so you will need a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after the last location on your itinerary.

What about flights?

You organize and pay for your own flights to and from a Hacker Paradise trip, but we can help you out if you need some advice.

How do we get around once there?

We tend to travel to most places on foot, public transport or ride-share apps. Some places have local vendors that offer bicycle rental for people who like to cycle. We structure our trip so you can easily walk between home, the coworking space, restaurants, bars, shops, and places of interest in town.

What about phone SIM cards?

The cost of a SIM card is included in the program pricing. All you let us know what SIM card your phone needs before coming, and we’ll do all the organizing. Don’t forget to make sure your phone is unlocked!

What is the housing and accommodation like?

Each place is different, but after we do extensive research and build relationships with housing partners, we make sure to get the best value for money. We also prioritize quality over price, so hostels will never be a part of the package. We stick with either hotels or serviced apartments.

Bathrooms may be shared with other Hacker Paradise attendees but never with strangers, and in some locations you can choose to upgrade to an accommodation with a private, ensuite bathroom.

Is shared accommodation available?

Absolutely. Unless specifically requested, the accommodation we provide is private. But If you’d like to have shared accommodation (which can reduce the price by up to $1,000 USD a month!), all you need to do is ask and we can make arrangements. Special requests such as sharing with someone of the same gender can also be taken care of.

Can I come as a couple or a family?

Yep and you wouldn’t be the first. If you’re a couple sharing accommodation, it usually works out cheaper per person. We’ve had experience with alumni bringing along newborns or older kids and have even had families of four join us.

If you’re curious about coming as a family, please contact us.

I want to bring a group. Is this possible?

It sure is. Hacker Paradise trips are great for giving your team a big thank you for working so hard and inspire them. Talk to us to find out what kind of arrangements can be made and the discounts you can get by traveling and working together.

Cleaning isn’t exactly my strong suit…

That’s okay, we’re sure you’ve got other amazing qualities. As for cleaning, we organize cleaners to do most of the dirty work like changing bed linen and overall house cleaning approximately at least once every two weeks. If we’re staying hotels, they tend to be done more often. Do your best to be considerate though, especially if you’re sharing!

I can’t believe I waited this long to ask… food?

Once a week (usually on Mondays) we organize and pay for everyone to have lunch together. It’s a great opportunity to chat, catch up on the weekend’s activities and meet newcomers to the trip.

Other than the weekly lunch, you’re free to go out and explore the abundant and delicious local food options on your own or with members of the community. You can go to cafés with other attendees, grab ingredients from supermarkets to attempt recipes you’d never try at home, find your new favorite street food… the list goes on and on.
