HP Alumni Trip

The hp Rio House

kick back in luxury • get sh*t done • have fun

SEPT 15 - DEC 15, 2019

We’re taking all the HP magic, culture, and community pieces that you love and setting up a pop up coliving and coworking space!

Spoiler alert: this penthouse is the poshest housing we’ve ever booked. In the best Rio neighborhood. With the coolest people.

Our intimate group is going to be lead by Renata, our local carioca, who is ready to show you the best sunsets, teach you how to samba, and take you to all the coolest places in town.

This program will be more focused on community-building. If you are excited about getting to know a small group of people really well, this is the trip for you.

Why rio de janeiro?

Because you ain't getting sunga fittings in Alberta

Dramatic mountain backdrops. Tiled boardwalks along crescent-shaped beaches. An awesome city with açai smoothie shops on every corner.

Rio is the embodiment of energy. The city always has something going on, whether it is dancing on the streets during street festivals, joining foot volleyball games on the beach, or seeing your favorite musicians at the world-renowned Rock in Rio music festival.

You’ll be amazed with the beautiful beaches, active nightlife, and perfect climate upon first arrival. After that, we’ll dive deeper to network with the locals, explore outside the city, and hang out in all the places that you won’t find listed in travel books.

The Experience

We are doing alllll the thiiiiings

Caipirinhas on the beach. Sizzling Brazilian barbecue. Working on your perfect tan.

Rio does not disappoint.

We’re also going to take some time to explore some of the surrounding area. Hike to some of the best waterfalls in Brazil. Explore some historic Portuguese cities. See what all the buzz is about in São Paulo.

Get ready to make all your friends back home jealous.

Trip Highlights

Experience the best Brazil has to offer with these activities

luxury penthouse

We are living in a lavish space that has all the amenities you need to settle in. Get ready for family dinners together in the kitchen and sunsets drinks on the balcony. If you’re interested, message us to see more pics. It is truly stunning.

the best location

We are staying in Ipanama, the best and safest part of town, only a 7-minute walk from both of those beaches. We’re right next to a metro stop and close to restaurants, grocery stores, bars, gyms, green space, etc. This is the place to be.

Monday lunches

No matter what the trip, we like to get together as a group on Mondays and eat on HP’s dime. It gives you a chance to meet the new people who have showed up as well as catch up with everybody about what happened over the weekend.

weekly potluck dinners

Potlucks are an HP institution. There’s no way we’re giving this up. Since we are living in the same house, this will be more of group cooking and family dinner style. Get ready to feast with your housemates!

bimonthly chat with locals

We’re going to be connecting with locals to have talks about life in Brazil. Imagine these all as an opportunity to ask all your burning questions about history, pop culture, dating, etc.—all over a glass of wine or two.

Add on events and side trips

We have plans to explore not only Rio but other places in Brazil like Chapad Diamantina, São Paulo, and figuring out what concerts at Rock in Rio we can attend.

We are also running an AMAZON BOAT TRIP over New Year’s for those who want to stick around a bit longer.

Other Cool
Sh*t In Town

  • Spend unforgettable nights sipping wine at home while having incredible conversations with your housemates

Our home base

The cool neighborhood close to everything you need
