We’re excited to announce that Hacker Paradise will be heading to Portugal for 3 months this summer!
From June 5 to August 27, we’ll be staying in the historic downtown of Porto, a short walk from the River Douro.
This is an opportunity to get work done and enjoy one of the best places to spend summer in Europe.
It’s a great chance to dive into Portuguese culture – we’ll be organizing events with the local tech scene and hiring a local Portuguese instructor for the group.
So, why Porto?
Porto is an under-the-radar city along the banks of the beautiful River Douro:
The weather in the summer is absolutely amazing.
The average daily high from July 2015 was 75 F (24 C), and it never got above 80 F (27 C) – source Accuweather.
This makes it much more livable in the summer than cities like Barcelona and Lisbon, which regularly reach the high 90s F (30s C).
Porto is a coastal city, so beaches are just a short ride away:

Join us for the European summer in Porto while building cool things and hanging out with amazing people.
We’ve rented out several houses downtown in the Vitoria neighborhood (check it out on Google Maps). They each have 5-6 bedrooms, and are within a 5-10 minute walk of each other.

Most people will have a private room, although there are some shared rooms available. We will be booking additional housing options in the coming months as we accept more applicants.
We will also be creating a pop-up workspace in one of the apartment buildings with high-speed Internet and the capacity for 30-40 people.
